welcome to dinner for a dollar!
as a poor college student, I am keen on making the cheapest dishes possible - for myself and my starving electrical engineer friends. thanks to my mom's shopping skills, which are apparently hereditary, I can come back from a grocery store run with twice as many bags and twice as much money left over as, well, just about anyone. (I'm training my roommates, by the way. they're getting better. also, look out for a shopping tips post at some point... I would love to spread my knowledge.)
but how to make that money stretch even further? cook right, of course! all of my (non-cooking-oriented) friends tell me that I'm a "creative cook," but I don't think that's true. I think it's genetic again. my mom taught herself to cook and cook well, without the use of recipes for most of her winning meals. plus, she feeds my family of five on $5 or less most nights.
well, I figured, if five can eat for $5, why can't one eat for $1? and that's my goal - to bring you the cheapest, easiest, most delicious and even healthiest meals possible for a measly $14 per week plus breakfast (which I don't usually eat, incidentally).
ready to save on the dough and splurge on the delicious?
